Our state-of-the-art cinemas are perfect for film screenings, product launches, lectures, presentations and even stand-up comedy. Cinema 1 can seat up to 170 people, while Cinema 2 can seat up to 390.
This purpose-designed, light-filled function space features floor-to-ceiling windows and is ideal for meetings, workshops, lunches, cocktail events and dinners.
Part of our new creative industries co-working space and designed by award-winning architects Six Degrees, ACMI X Social Space is a versatile function room with in-house audio visual and natural light that can accommodate groups of up to 120 standing and 40 seated.
With comfortable tiered seating, a large stage area and options for a projector and lectern, Studio 1 is suitable for presentations, workshops, seminars and launches. The studio’s green-screen and live camera feed capabilities are available to add extra impact to your event. Studio 1 can seat 70 people or hold 90 for a stand-up party.
With its soaring glass ceilings overlooking Flinders Street, the Lightwell is the gateway to ACMI's galleries. This contemporary space, filled with natural light, is ideal for large receptions, launches and red-carpet premieres.
ACMI's stunning exhibition chronicling the history of the moving image also doubles as an event space with a difference. Add a backdrop of moving images, Hollywood glamour and interactive entertainment to your cocktail party.
The Briefing Room
An intimate multi-purpose space that seats up to 40 people, the Briefing Room is great for lectures, pre- or post-event talks, comedy performances, live theatre and music. Also the first stop for school groups visiting ACMI, The Briefing Room is located on the Gallery level and can be accessed via Flinders Street.
Located on the Entry Level in ACMI’s main thoroughfare, the Balcony is the ultimate high-traffic spot to promote your event, drive awareness to your product and/or provide information to clients or the general public. Overlooking the Lightwell, the Balcony is the hub of our foot traffic with access to the ACMI Store, the Australian Mediatheque, ACMI Cafe & Bar, the Cinemas and Galleries levels.
The ACMI Green Room
Fully equipped with two computers, printing facilities, dedicated internet access, couches, tables and chairs, the ACMI Green Room is the best place to entertain guests prior to your big event. Tucked away in a secure area away from the public, the ACMI Green Room will make your clients – or you – feel like a star.
Gallery One has been the temporary home of celebrated exhibitions like Pixar: 20 Years of Animation, Tim Burton: The Exhibition, Hollywood Costume and Spectacle: The Music Video Exhibition. The gallery can be booked for any private event that demands a unique experience. Not only will you get after-hours access to the best exhibitions in Australia, but you can also add impact to your event with introductory talks, guided tours and catering provided by us.
An intimate exhibition space, Gallery Two showcases work by the best local and international moving image talent. It recently housed acclaimed exhibitions such as the Best of the Independent Games Festival, Mary and Max: The Exhibition, Warwick Thornton: Mother Courage and Shaun Tan’s The Lost Thing: From book to film.
