Reviewing Bergman: Masterclass with David Stratton

Are you a film critic in the making aged between 15 and 25? Apply for the chance to spend a special hour with David Stratton discussing the art of film criticism.

Hear behind-the-scenes stories, get the chance to ask questions of the master, and find out what it really takes to review the volume of films expected of a professional critic.

  • Join other young, passionate film enthusiasts as you develop and showcase your skills in the art of film reviewing with one of Australia’s most celebrated film critics.

    Successful applicants write a 200-word review of a film in Essential Bergman: Selected by David Stratton, a season celebrating the Swedish cinematic giant. Reviews are shared with David and the group, and may be considered for publication on ACMI Channel.

    How to Apply:

    1) In 100 words or less describe which film festival you'd love to attend and why

    2) Email the above with your date of birth and a photograph of you in ‘film critic’ mode to intermix@acmi.net.au

    Applications close at 5pm on Monday 25 May. Successful applicants will be notified by email by Friday 8 June.

    This event takes place in Studio 1 from 4pm-5pm.
    Intermix is ACMI’s program for young people aged 15 - 25.
