Monkey! Holiday Green Screen Workshop

Creative Workshops

13 Jan - 23 Jan

Take a magical journey in search of lost scrolls in this one-day kids workshop inspired by an ancient Chinese story. Play your own part and work in a team to create a story about animal spirits and fantastical monsters. Then act out your story in our professional TV studio. Learn how to use green screen technology to fly on your own magic cloud!

This workshop is inspired by Wu Cheng’en’s 16th-century novel Journey to the West, which became known to English-speaking audiences as Monkey via Arthur Waley’s popular 1942 translation and the cult-classic Japanese TV adaptation Monkey Magic (1978-80).

Tickets: $70 - $80. Member Discounts Available.
  • Journey to the West has had many other screen, stage and print adaptations, and is considered one of the four great classical novels of Chinese literature.

At the end of the workshop, each participant can invite two family members to a special screening of the completed film, then take home their own copy on USB.

For kids aged 8 to 11 years.

Workshops run from 10am to 2.30pm.

Tickets must be purchased in advance. In the event of a workshop cancellation, ticket holders are notified and a full refund is provided. For more information please contact public.programs@acmi.net.au
