The prestigious University of Melbourne, Kate Challis RAKA award celebrates the creative talent of Indigenous artists. Each year a different art form is showcased and in 2014 excellence in scriptwriting for film or television is acknowledged.

  • Following the announcement of this year's award, the winner’s film or TV episode will be screened before a fascinating panel discussion about the power and importance of Indigenous screen practice featuring Indigenous writers, directors and academics.

    Kate Challis RAKA Award is hosted by the Australian Centre, School of Culture and Communication, The Melbourne University. The 2014 award, presented in partnership with ACMI, honours the best Indigenous screenwriting from the past five years.

    Join us for an event that truly celebrates Indigenous scriptwriting as a major force on Australian screens.

    Hosted by Deborah Cheetham AO, Head of Wilin Centre for Indigenous Arts and Cultural Development and Associate Dean (Indigenous), Faculty of VCA & MCM.
