The Legend of Ben Hall is the official opening night film for the 2016 Made in Melbourne Film Festival.
An historical action drama based on the true story of the Australian bushranger, the film has been written, produced and directed by Matthew Holmes and stars Jack Martin in the title role, supported by Jamie Coffa as John Gilbert, and William Lee as John Dunn.
This special Opening Night screening of the 2016 Made In Melbourne Film Festival will feature a Q&A with director Matthew Holmes after the screening, as well as key cast and crew.

After two years running from the law, bushranger Ben Hall has gone into hiding. He is soon drawn back into bushranging by the reappearance of his old friend, John Gilbert. Reforming the gang and taking on a new recruit John Dunn, the trio begin a spree of robberies and crimes across New South Wales. After killing two policemen, the three become the most wanted men in the colony. When the Government moves to declare them outlaws that can be shot on sight, Ben Hall makes desperate plans to flee the colony. But with a such a large bounty on the gang, treachery abounds where they least expect it.
