A period piece set in the Joseon dynasty, this film centres on Nae-kyeong, a talented ‘face reader’ who can assess a person by looking at their face.

  • He lives with his son, Jin-hyeong, and his brother-in-law, Paeng-heon in the mountains. He quickly becomes renowned for his skill and is soon appointed on the government’s Inspection Board where he unwittingly uncovers a conspiracy for the throne.

    Directed by Han Jae-rim, The Face Reader became one of the highest grossing Korean films of all time and won six Grand Bell Awards including Best Film and Best Director.
