  • A War Council, established by Premier Suzuki (Tsutomu Yamazaki) on behalf of the Emperor, appoints popular military general Anami (Koji Yakusho) as Army Minister. However, Anami has a difficult task ahead: juggling his desire to see his nation’s sovereignty be preserved, the Army’s resistance to accepting defeat in the war and his Emperor’s wish for peace.

This is a remake of the 1967 film Japan’s Longest Day, directed by Kihachi Okamoto and based on the nonfiction novel Nihon no Ichiban Nagai Hi by Kazutoshi Hando.
