In between all the cooking, we learn of Ichiko’s conflicted feelings about her return to Komori, as well as her frequently rocky relationship with her mother. By returning to Komori is Ichiko simply escaping or is she making a life-long decision?
Based on a manga by Daisuke Igarashi, little forest -winter/spring- celebrates the simple country life. It was filmed on location in Ohshu, Iwate Prefecture, and features breathtaking scenery shots, recipes, reflections and meditations on life. It is a film of gentle self-discovery with a simple narrative but possesses emotional depth.
This screening contains the final two parts of a loosely compiled four part series, but you need not have seen the first two parts to enjoy the film.
