In the final stages of WWII, the occupying Japanese army in the Philippines is rapidly losing ground, facing local resistance combined with an American offensive.

No Longer Available.
  • Private Tamura, suffering tuberculosis and abandoned by his company, wanders the wasteland and crosses the threshold into a realm where there are no friends, no enemies and no God.

Based on the original story by Shohei Oka, Fires on the Plain was first adapted by Kon Ichikawa in 1959. Entirely directed, produced and written by Shinya Tsukamoto (Tetsu: The Iron Man, Ichi the Killer) this gripping and bloody adaptation delivers a raw and confronting portrait of humanity’s dark side. Not for the faint of heart.

All screenings of this film will be followed by a Q&A with director Shinya Tsukamoto.
