Dramatic circumstances throw her together with a prison escapee named Vaughn (Damian Pitt). As the couple navigates their way through the treacherous landscape, they must learn to put aside their differences and it isn't long before Lena and Vaughn develop feelings that neither anticipated.
In 2002, Sen collected gongs for Best Director at the IF and AFI (now AACTA) Awards. His cinematographer, Allan Collings, was also recognised for his breathtaking work by both award bodies.
“Sen is not the director to shy away from heavy message-making or gimmicky symbols… but at best his commitment to simple, direct images brings him close to silent-movie poetry… Displaying about equal amounts of naiveté, passion and talent, Beneath Clouds establishes Sen as a filmmaker of considerable potential…” - Jake Wilson, Urban Cinefile
Beyond Clouds originally screened in Australian Perspectives in 2008 and is this year celebrating its 10th anniversary!
