Japanese Film Festival 2016
24 Nov - 4 Dec
From the pristine summit of Everest to the crime-ridden underbelly of Hokkaido, the JFF Melbourne program features new and classic cinema from a wide range of Japanese filmmakers. Auteurs Hirokazu Kore-eda (After the Storm) and Miwa Nishikawa (The Long Excuse) appear alongside rising independent directors including Satoko Yokohama (The Actor).
The free Classics program also returns to Melbourne with 16mm and 35mm post-war social films from the ‘50s to ‘80s by independent directors Tadashi Imai and Kaneto Shindô.
