Strong sexual violence and coarse language

12 Nov - 3 Dec

In bustling Phnom Penh, Phirun (Mony) is a factory worker whose temper costs him his job after he picks a fight at work. Sovanna (Malen) is a young sex worker who is beaten up by her pimp until, cleverly fighting back, she escapes into the street.

A vision of dreams and nightmares, Ruin is an intense romance between two damaged souls in Cambodia.

Tickets: Full $17. Concession $13. Member $10.
  • Ruin had its international premiere at the 2013 Venice International Film Festival where it won the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize- the first Australian film in 20 years to win an award at Venice.

A love story set in modern day Cambodia, Ruin has been described as... “Breathtaking... elemental... a remarkably ambitious, poetic vision” (Cinevue).

Please note that the Ruin Live event, with live music, on the 12 November has been cancelled. This event has been replaced with a normal screening of Ruin.
