Orry-Kelly and his Legacy
Posted on: 04/05/2013
Les Girls, starring Gene Kelly with musical numbers by Cole Porter, may seem out of place in Australian Perspectives. However, with its Oscar®-winning costumes by Australian-born Orry-Kelly, it marks the beginning of our tribute to the Australians who have made a significant contribution to costume design in Hollywood.
The Q&A featured Katherine Thomson, writer (Mr & Mrs Murder, Unfolding Florence, Halifax f.p.), who is currently developing a feature documentary with director Gillian Armstrong about Orry Kelly; Anna Borghesi, costume designer (Mao's Last Dancer, Ned Kelly, Romper Stomper); and Margot Anderson, curator (Dance & Opera), Arts Centre Melbourne. The Q&A will be facilitated by film journalist, Rochelle Siemienowicz.comments powered by Disqus
